My mom called yesterday to tell me she looked like a pirate. I don't talk to her for weeks on end and then she calls yesterday to tell me about a $7000 shot she has to get to increase her WBC and today to tell me she looks like a pirate. Hysterical! She thinks that wearing her head scarf reminds people of Jack Sparrow.
We video chatted and, actually, it looks really nice. Its pretty fancy! She has a little peahead and the scarf looks great. She was in wonderful spirits so we joked about lots of things that are normally too sad and serious to talk about. I think should probably shave all of her hair instead of waiting for it to fall out but she'll do what makes her feel happiest. Also, they are considering taking out her lung drain because she barely has any fluid in there. This is great news because it means that the chemo is killing the cancer cells that were in the lung area. Woohoo! I've gotten some really sweet texts and emails today checking up which is always so nice.
Also, we had a great playdate yesterday with Mo and the twins. Her house looks like a Pottery Barn catalog and I was just
slightly jealous! Especially since all of our furniture was purchased for $50 or less off Craigslist. So later I went home and signed up for this
about a 1000 times once
The kids had fun and Caroline wanted to hug and kiss the twins goodbye. She has really inspired me to get my Etsy store up and running. Once the baby is born that will be one of my main goals.
In unrelated news, I thought my water broke today. Sadly, it was just that I had peed from coughing too hard. As if I didn't have to say it, I am READY for Catherine to arrive and to not be pregnant anymore!
You are being SO STRONG with your Mom and everything you are going through right now sweetie. Honesty to God, I don't know how you are pregnant, getting settled in a new city AND doing your best to be there for you Momma who is so far away. You are amazing :-) I will be praying that your Mom makes a full recovery, that Catherine arrives sooner than later (and healthy) and that you win the PB makeover. That would be a hell of a home run huh?
